Claudia Cristea – Abducted
My work explores the relationship between people, spaces, objects and emotions. Moving to another country as a student, opened up a wide range of emotions and challenges for me. This project is an investigation of the feeling of strangeness that most international students experience whilst at University abroad. By placing them in spaces that create discomfort and capturing specific body language, I am developing an counterpoint with the photographs of objects that represent emotional comfort to them. In addition to that I decided to use pieces of text to which they have a specific connection. Therefore the three elements generate an emotional portrait of a group of people to which I am part of. In some way, they are a self portrait.
