Nick Turpin – The Bridge

“There are cameras and there are photographs, but there is also the act of photographing itself. Working in a public place with a camera can reveal that place to you in the same way that a long exposure can reveal the flow of traffic or the passing of stars.
These pictures are of strangers that I stopped in the middle of Blackfriars Bridge over the river Thames in London, a place that is a kind of no mans land in the heart of the biggest city in Europe. The pictures go some way to revealing the kind of place that it is, sparse and exposed. They also reveal the kinds of people that cross from North to South and back again.”
