“My images are digitally manipulated ‘assemblages’ of photographs I scavenge off the Internet. I do not shoot any of my own pictures. I have over 30 gigabytes of material that has been indexed into different categories. The number of found photos I use in a piece varies but its usually over a dozen. I like to think of these bits of photos as building blocks which I can pile together to create something new. I usually work in a kind of organic way. I start with a vague idea and then let the pieces organize themselves to fill in the blanks. Most of the time, if I pre-conceptualize the work too heavily, it becomes more of a compromise. I like it to be a process of discovery. The final image is always so much more interesting.”
