Aleksey Kondratyev – Diaspora
During the last decade, the population of Southeastern Michigan has experienced an unprecedented drop in population as people migrate to states with more abundant economic opportunities. Population loss of this magnitude is rare; its impact has never been studied, making it difficult to predict the future changes that this area will go through. These images are from a project I worked on exploring residential landscapes around Southeastern Michigan–landscapes which now lack a presence, landscapes which like the greater area of Southeastern Michigan, lack a definitive future without people to inhabit them.
