Dragos Rapeanu – Lacul Morii
www.dragosrapeanu.com and his blog
“Constructed under the communist regime of Nicolae Ceausescu to prevent floodings in Bucharest, Lacul Morii (Mill’s Lake) was built over a cemetery and a church. Being on the periphery of Bucharest the lake and the small island that lies in the middle are somewhat hidden, making it easy for the authorities to ignore it until the next elections come and new promises are made. Inspite its’ degradation, piles of trash, and the fact that it has witnessed from drug addicts to mafia style murders and rapes, Lacul Morii remains a huge attraction for the people living near it. Especially during the summer people come here in huge numbers to swim, fish, take a stroll at sunset or to have a picnic, ignoring all the negative aspects.”

I wouldn’t eat any fish from the lake, I wouldn’t swim, but running on the alley surrounding it was one of the best ever. Sometimes I could even see the Parliament:) That’s one of the very few things i regretted after moving out of Bucharest.
Lacul Morii is awesome and it could be even more without special elaborated complicated plans for development, just some cleaning and litter bins here and there.
Uitandu-ma pe seriile de fotografii publicate pe site-ul lui Dragos mi-am adus aminte de Bresson. Eu zic ca e bine!
E foarte de bine, sunt convins!
